NaNoWriMo 2022!

Tomorrow begins National Novel Writing Month for 2022!

I’ve participated in #NaNoWriMo many times throughout my life, but never on such an important project before.

This year I’m going to tackle the re-imagining of my autobiography.

In the past, I’d tried writing an autobiography a number of times, urged by my peers and healers to share my story. However, every time I would write it, it was focused on the TV show drama like quality of the sheer amount of trauma I’ve lived through. Yikes.

In the past three or four years, I’ve really been working more than ever on my spiritual and emotional health. Through those trials of self-discovery, I realized how much I create my own reality and how important it is to stay aligned in my values.

That’s why this year I’m tossing every prior version of my story I’ve written before (with the single exception of my memoir in poetry called “Daddy’s Girl”). The book I started when I was 15 to unpack my childhood? Bye. The 2nd half of my “A Year and a Day” book I wrote for NaNo 2019? No more.

This is a fresh start, a new and improved view of me and my life. I didn’t come here to trauma dump on people or regale them with tales of my past issues. I came here to uplift others, cheer people on, and show them by living in my light that they can, too.

So, if you’re participating in NaNoWriMo this year, I’d love for you to join me as I work on Rising from the Soil.”

Here is the background I made to inspire myself this year!
